DNA Academy - Quick Answers
Do you have records for Scandinavian or European ancestry?
Yes! We highlight resources for Sweden (Riksarkivet), Norway (Digitalarkivet), Denmark, the UK, Germany, and more – including links to regional archives and digitized parish records. If your target country isn’t listed, use our contact form to suggest it, and we’ll research it for our next update.
Are all the linked resources completely free?
We mark each resource clearly. About 70% are completely free (like FamilySearch). Some are paid databases (like certain UK parish records) but we only link to paid ones if we genuinely think they are worth the cost and have no free alternative.
How often do you update the global resources list?
We review and update the list quarterly. Archives go online and offline, and we want to make sure you always have working links. We also add new countries based on user requests, so if you need a specific region, just let us know.
Do you include resources for indigenous or Native American ancestry?
Yes! We include links to tribal archives, the National Indian Law Library, and specific resources for researching Native American heritage. We also provide guidance on DNA testing for indigenous ancestry (which requires autosomal + mitochondrial testing). Check the “North American” section of our Global Genealogy Resources list for a full overview.
