Advanced Segment Mapping

Welcome to the Advanced DNA & Segment Mapping Hub. This track is designed for intermediate to experienced genetic genealogists who want to verify specific ancestral links on Chromosomes 1 through 22. Learn how to configure chromosome browsers, verify triangulated groups, and test relationship hypotheses using advanced statistical models.

🧬 Triangulation Rule: Establish Chromosomal Overlap

Simply sharing mutual matches (the “In-Common-With” filter) does not prove a shared ancestor. True DNA triangulation requires proving that you, Match A, and Match B all share a segment on the exact same chromosome at the identical base-pair positions. Always use chromosome browsers to verify overlaps and avoid chasing “false positive” matches caused by endogamy.
