GEDCOM (.ged) is the universal file format for family trees. You can open it by uploading it directly to our free online GEDCOM viewer, no downloads required. It instantly converts your raw data into an interactive, visual family tree that you can zoom, pan, and export.

Yes! Our GEDCOM viewer is completely free and requires no registration. Just upload your .ged file and start exploring. You can view ancestors, descendants, and even spot missing dates or duplicate entries immediately. Perfect for quick sanity checks before sharing your tree with relatives.

Check for missing dates (especially birth and death), duplicate individuals (same name + birth year), and inconsistent places (e.g., “London” vs. “London, England”). Our GEDCOM viewer highlights these issues automatically so you can clean up your data before uploading it to larger genealogy platforms.

Our viewer is designed for viewing and analyzing, not for editing. To edit, download the original file, make changes in your family tree software (like RootsMagic or Family Tree Maker), and re-upload the updated version using our GEDCOM viewer. The viewer will instantly reflect the changes on your next upload.
